The Ghanaian actress said why would Darey pay so much money and fly Kim Kardashian down to Nigeria just for a 45 seconds intro’ on his Love Like a Movie Concert, which held on Sunday, February 17, 2013.

"Ok here’s my 2cents! Been reading comments about Darey’s concert and to be honest I don’t see why he will pay so much money and fly Kim k down to Naija just for a 45sec intro on his show, like seriously! Bro, you could have flown me from Ghana and I would have represented well! What did Kim K do for the 45 secs? She stood and told a senseless story, I could have stood and told a sensible story about Ghana on a Nigerian stage!‘, she wrote.

She also went on to say that African show promoters should shun foreign entertainers and focus on working with more African talents.

HALIMA ABUBAKAR PREMIERES 'MISTRESS' ON SUNDAY

Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, will on Sunday, February 24, 2013, premiere her first movie as a Nollywood producer. 

The film, which is titled 'Mistress' parades some stars in it. The event will hold at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, on Sunday. 

We learnt that the talented screen queen spent some millions of naira to complete the flick. Some parts of the film, according to information gathered, were shot in Germany and some other places.

Sylvia Nduka, Yvonne Nelson, Moyo Lawal, Mary Uranta, Femi Brainard and others dazzled in the movie. 

The premiere starts by 2pm with a red carpet.

“YOUTH EMPOWERMENT TO FOSTER UNITY” - YOWICAN PRSIDENT

Dr. Simon Dolly, the National youth president of YOWICAN, a youth arm of Christian Association of Nigeria (C.A.N) in an exclusive interview with The Genius Magazine advocates for harmonious living relationship between the Muslim and the Christian community. 

He admonished all Christian leaders to sincerely commit the security challenges in the country to God, as he alone can bring the desired peace the country desires now.

 The youth president who was recently decorated as full Commandant of Chaplain , and also conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degree of Christian Leadership by the International Institute of pastoral Education and Chaplaincy /  International Chaplains Association USA emphasised on the need for all youths irrespective of religious or political affiliation to strive for skill acquisition, as against waiting for the white collar jobs. 

In his remarks, the one- time chairman of Nasarawa State Nigeria, who resigned his appointment to take up the call for the betterment of the youths, emphasised on his greatest achievement since stepping into the office been the realisation of the unity goal of his administration between the Christian and Muslim. 

He advocated for prayers and advice from all spiritual leaders , whom he applauded but called on them to do more in the area of collaboration. 

‘’ the problem of this nation sincerely is the youths’’ he cried, as empowerment that they clamour for should not be shouldered by government alone. He called on the youths to rise up to responsibilities as the mantle will fall on them when our elders answer the call of death..

He expressed sadness over the incessant unrest in many parts of the North , and narrowed it down to a scenario where the northerners in the country assume that the current leadership under President Goodluck Jonathan stole their mandate.  He however, called on the president to read the handwriting on the wall, and allow peace to reign by not heeding to some advices from his so-called advisers as they benefit from such misgivings. 

The YOWICAN president who lost two of his relation , got his house burnt to ashes in one of the communal attacks within Nasarawa state,  strongly believes it is his own part of the sacrifice for a peaceful Nigeria but was optimistic with the exodus assurance that ‘’ the Egyptians you see today , you will see them no more’’  

He also advocated for government at all level to create job opportunities to get our youths busy , as the crimes we face today are perpetrated by them.  

I am not a politician, and I don’t follow politicians as they will use you and dump you.

On the issue that the country is at the brink on degeneration or division, the patriot placed the unity mandate on God the creator as he alone knows the fate of the nation.

‘’ it’s just God that is still holding this country together, and not Jonathan’’.  He called on both the government and the public sector to open other investment opportunities in the country , to diversify from oil as the oil he said will dry up one day..

On the incessant political party struggle, the onetime policy implementer heaped part of the problems of the country on die hard politicians who play party politics , in that they represent ONLY the ideology of their parties , living the whole nation at its own mercy. 

He cited the Obama re- election , and the cleric call by the re- elected president to work with all other contestants , as it is not a win or loose game but decision for all Americans for the betterment of America, other than chase shadows with different court files challenging credibility and all what not, as has always been the case of our own country Nigeria. 

On the general election come 2015, the youth president called on all and sundry eligible  electorates to vote for a candidate of their choice and not on sentiments and warned all those bane on destroying the country to keep – off as nemesis will soon catch up with them. 

He also bared his mind on the public presentation by pastor Tunde Bakare on the gift to the leadership of CAN, adding that it was just for the secretariat and should not trigger media hypes, but that we all will stand at the judgement throne to give account of our stewardship on earth. ‘’we should not judge as only God , is the right judge’’ if all Nigerians will pray for Goodluck, we will make headways he prayed.

He surmised by calling on all Nigerians to focus on achieving peace, unity and look forward to brighter days ahead.

In December 2012, Miss Global Nigeria first runner-up, Gbemisola Shotade, stunned the world when she was crown the first black Miss Tourism United Nation pageant held in Jamaica. 

For Cynthia Sapara, who emerged the second runner-up at the Miss Global Nigeria beauty pageant held in Lekki, Lagos, on June 3, 2012. 

The student of Chemistry in a Canadian school will represent Nigeria at the Top Model of The World beauty pageant to be hosted in Egypt in March. 

The event will hold from Sunday March 17 to Saturday March 30 at El-Gouna, Egypt. 

According to Cynthia, "I am focused on winning at the beauty pageant and that's why I'm engaging more in training now.

"Right now, I'm busy taking pictures, grooming up and perfecting different kinds of catwalk styles. My expectation is basically to go there and take the crown. I'm confident everything will come out perfect.

"We've got a lot to do, with my organisation, to give back to the society; charity is one important aspect, but I'd like to keep that to my chest now."

Later on in the year, the winner of Miss Global Nigeria, Pamela Ifeneme, a student of Industrial and Fashion Design at YABATECH, Lagos, will represent Nigeria at the Miss Intercontinental pageant in South Africa.

SONY SET TO RELEASE PLAYSTATION 4

Expectations are high for SONY to unleash its rumored newest system,PlayStation 4. 

A leaked photo is said to display the latest controller, produced in DualShock-style and equipped with a touchpad. This touchpad features a blue light on its backside that may come as part of PlayStation 4. The supposed controller is in conjunction with Sony's PlayStation Move motion controllers, both being armed with the blue light. Sony has not confirmed any ramblings centered around its latest game system, but inquiries will soon be answered on February 20th at an event in New York. Topics will primarily be focused on upcoming prospects for the PlayStation. Some reports have suggested PlayStation 4 will not be unveiled until next year, but others implied the highly anticipated system may be presented at the annual Electronics Entertainment Expo show held in June. For those who may be unfamiliar, this expo is focused around video game creators and console manufacturers exhibiting their current merchandise. 

Sony is sure to release a new gaming system with competition weighing on the company's back sometime this year. One competitor, Microsoft, is allegedly presenting its next gaming system soon with the Xbox 720. Even so, the PS3 topped sales through this past December, beating Microsoft Xbox 360 with over 77 million systems sold. The PS3 was also released a year before the the Xbox 360 hit the market, making the PS3 a more popular system.

MALWARE ON FACEBOOK: FBI CALLED IN TO INVESTIGATE

A recent malware attack has Facebook working with the FBI to investigate the attack. 

Last month, the social networking site was targeted by online hackers in an attack that has yet to be resolved. While Facebook reports such hacking attempts are quite frequent, the company is allegedly able to, the "vast majority of the time," thwart those attempts. Most of the time hackers are attempting to access users private data. According to facebook Security, in January it was ascertained that the site "had been targeted in a sophisticated attack" and in response "began a significant investigation that continues to this day." The attack originated on several employee computers which were isolated by Facebook and used to determine the source of the malware.

Facebook is no stranger to privacy criticisms. Accusations of selling user data to third-party companies for a profit have severely hurt the site's reputation in the past, and users are quick to suspect Facebook of security breaches. Another company that has been receiving heat for recent security vulnerabilities has been Oracle for the Java attacks over the past several months. In fact, the attacks seem somewhat related. "After analyzing the compromised website where the attack originated, states Facebook Security, "we found it was using a `zero-day' (previously unseen) exploit to bypass the Java sandbox." But the good news is as of yet, the damage appears minimal. Facebook has declared that as of yet no users have had their security compromised as a result of this incident.

MICROSOFT TO PROMOTE NEW AND IMPROVED EMAIL SERVICE

Microsoft has decided to promote its online email service called Outlook through a colossal variety of ad campaigns. 

This gigantic marketing campaign is arming itself against its major competitors, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, and other internet providers. These ads will be aired in the United States and will be primarily on websites, prime time television, billboards, radio stations, and buses. The hefty cost for these advertisements will run between $30 and $90 million making this the biggest advertising campaign in the email industry. One of the Outlook ads which was promoted a few weeks ago focuses on deeming Google as snoops because they glance through users e-mail titles for keywords to market toward their ads. The senior director of Outlook service, Dharmesh Mehta, also added that their aim is to be motivational. "We are trying to push people who have gotten lazy and comfortable with an e-mail service that may not be all that great and help show them what email can really do for them," she stated. 

The perks to switching to this email service include 60 percent fewer ads than its older version, called Hotmail, and a feature which allows users the freedom to send extremely large files with tons of photos in just one e-mail. Another great aspect is that it utilizes a user's contacts' Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn profiles to make updates to the contacts stored on the account. Users who already have an existing email service with Microsoft such as MSN will automatically be moved to Outlook by the summer months. 

HTC UNVEILS NEW LTE SMARTPHONE

The highly anticipated HTC One was showcased across the globe on the 19th of feburary, creating fierce competition for Samsung, Apple. 


The new HTC One was launched at events London and New York today following anticipation and internet leaks and speculations. The 4.7-inch phone seemed to have been received well, flaunting many new attractive features and utilities. Unlike competitors Google Nexus, the Android Jellybean phone has full LTE capabilities. Because of the seamless construction, the battery is not removable. The device can be purchased in either silver or black varieties. Using completely aluminum construction, HTC seems to be making a stab at the iPhone's build. 


The 32 GB or 64 GB phone's large bright screen is full 1080p. Another new feature of the device is a program called "Zoe" which takes photos using a few seconds of HD video and then allowing the user to pick the best frame from the capture. Audio has also been revamped with HTC BoomSound with front-facing speakers. Other perks include a news feed called BlinkFeed which compiles thousands of media outlets right on the home screen without obscuring the app icons. There is even an IR program that allows the phone to be used as a TV remote control. All of these apps are powered by a powerful brand new 1.7GHz processor by Qualcomm. While the price of the device has not yet been announced, carriers across the US such as Sprint and AT&T will be picking up the phone. 

TUFACE/ANNIE WED ON 23RD, MARCH IN DUBAI

After their much talked about Dubai wedding in February was shelved, we now hear that 2Face Idibia and Annie Macaulay will hold their white wedding on March 23 in Dubai. 

This date, according to information that filtered in to us, may not be shifted again like the earlier reported February wedding that may not hold anymore. 

Thereafter, the couple will spend few weeks for their honeymoon in Dubai and possibly another country that is not yet disclosed.

In February 2012, precisely on Valentine's Day, 2Face proposed marriage to Annie. This was followed by a secret wedding on May 1, 2012 in Lagos. 

They already have a child from their relationship before marriage. Annie is reported pregnant with their second child together and the seventh for 2Face.

ICE PRINCE REACTS TO ROMANCE TALE WITH YVONNE NWOSU

Popular rapper, Ice Prince, has reacted to the news going round that he is presently dating Nigerian born Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nwosu. 

There have been reports in the media, mostly on some blogs that the Jos-bred singer is having a romantic relationship with the beautiful actress. It was also reported that Ice Prince dumped Yvonne Nelson for her 'rival'.

NIGERIAN ACTOR IFEANYI DIK BACK FROM INDIA, SOUND AFTER A SUCCESSFUL KIDNEY TRANSPLANT

Prince Ifeanyi Dike, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, is back in Nigeria. He arrived on Sunday night from India where he had been for more than one year after a kidney transplant.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS NollywoodReel shortly after his arrival, Prince Dike, who is set to participate actively in the country’s politics, especially in the forthcoming 2015 general elections, said he is back, hale and hearty.

“I have been confirmed okay by the doctors for very long time, but decided to stay back a bit for some reasons, but I’m happy to be back home; there’s no place like home,” Prince Dike said.

He has also said his political ambition for 2015 elections, which will take off on the platform of Great Nigeria Democratic Party (GNDP), is still on course.

“Nigeria must be great again, and that is what we stand for. I’m coming back to give Nigerians the desired change,” he said, adding that GNDP will concentrate more on local council and governorship elections. “Later, we will be contesting the presidential seat with other parties,” he added

NIGERIAN MOVIE MAKES HISTORY, DEBUT IN U.S THEATRES

A Nollywood movie titled `Dr Bello’ will be making history as the first Nigerian movie to debut in the U.S. theatres on Feb. 22, its producer, Mr Tony Abulu, has said.

Abulu on Monday in Abuja said that the movie would be released in the U.S. theatres from Feb. 22 to Feb. 27.

He said the movie, worth N150 million, would explore the foreign exchange potentials that abound in the U.S. film industry.

The development, according to Abulu, will also create a platform for other Nigerian movies to sell in the U.S. market.

“This is the second largest theatre chain in America with over 5000 screens and this portends great opportunity for Nigeria, because apart from “Dr Bello” other movies can come through this same agreement.

“The only catch is that they have to be very well produced and they have to be targeted to an American audience, not all the Nigerian movies can do it; there will be a select group of Nigerian movies that can come through that channel.

“But I think, as time goes on, we can begin to see the millions of dollars of foreign exchange revenue that we have been hoping for from a place like the U.S."

Abulu praised the performance of the Nigerian film industry in projecting the image of the country overseas, adding that the quality of movies currently produced in the country were encouraging.

“The kind of movies we are making now are the quality of movies that I believe can have the capabilities to disclaim in the US theatres, but one of the prerequisite is that Americans would normally like to see one or two of their own actors in the movies.

“So we have very good film makers in Nigeria and I can account for at least about 25 of them that I think have the capacity and capability to make such films."

The producer said that the production of the film was supported by Federal Government’s $200 million intervention fund, adding that an endowment fund was still needed to boost activities of the entertainment industry.

According to him, the AMC agreed to expand the film to a wider release if there was a strong performance during the critical make-or-break first week of its release.

Abulu, who is also the writer and director of “Dr Bello’’, said that the release of the move in U.S. would strengthen the Nigerian film industry.

He said that it would provide better opportunities for professionals in the industry as well as enable films get more elaborate in terms of their scope.

“Once the revenue begins to increase of the films, everybody benefits.

“The industry gets stronger because there is more funding in the industry, producers now can spend more money in making movies.

“Instead of making movies at an average of N5 million, now you are making movies at an average of N40 million.

“That means locations are paid for, actors and the entire crew are paid more for their work and they can bring in a lot more actors in the movies and the movies can get more elaborate in terms of their scope.

“So by extension, a lot of people will benefit just by distributing the Nollywood movies in the U.S. market."

The movie, ‘Dr Bello’, will be starring Isaiah Washington, Vivica Fox, Jimmy Jean-Luis and Nigerian superstars Genevieve Nnaji and Stephanie Okereke.

The film will open at AMC theatres in New York, New Jersey Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, Miami and Jacksonville.

Others are Columbus, Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles.
